Wireless earbuds have become ubiquitous additions to just about every smartphone, allowing you to take calls, access voice assistant features, and control media playback seamlessly. While there are currently more options than you can shake a stick at, we're pitting a pair of the 2 most popular options against each other to see who comes out on top. Our top dogs in this race are the Apple AirPods Pro and the Elite 75t earbuds from unlikely contender Jabra. We've outlined some standout features from each model below, and dissected their competing features before deciding on a clear winner.

Sound

Both of our contenders feature solid sound quality as far as earbuds go. Either the AirPods or the Jabra Elite 75t are a fine choice for listening to music on your commute. However, Jabra edges out the competition just slightly with a couple of key additions.

The first is the"hear-through"option which allows you to filter in some outside noise at the push of a button without having to physically remove them. This is handy when you quickly need to pipe in some outside noise when ordering a coffee or you need to make sure you don't get squished by oncoming traffic. The second advantage comes with the addition of the Jabra Sound+ app which gives you the option to fine-tune your audio experience.

The AirPods have solid sound quality as well and feature active noise-canceling technology, but lacks any way to fine-tune the audio experience or quickly pipe in outside audio when you need it.

Both earbuds come with a variety of ear tip options, ensuring a perfect fit every time. And while their charging cases are similar in size, The Jabra elite features a more diminutive and compact form factor, as well as a variety of color options. The AirPods are only available in white and retain their curious cotton swab design that looks cool on absolutely no one.

Battery

The Jabra Elite 75t edges out the AirPods Pro slightly is the realm of battery life, capable of an additional hour of playback on average before needing to top off. Both charging cases can hold up to an additional 24 hours of charge and while the Jabra Elite 75t is charged via USB-C, the charging protocols for the AirPods Pro are unsurprisingly tied to Apple's proprietary lightning cable, but also feature wireless charging with Qi-certified chargers.

Important to note is that both models will have a slightly reduced battery life when using them for calls, knocking about an hour off their total charge if you're using them for calls nonstop.

Features

There are a number of helpful features baked into these earbuds in an effort to set them apart. Like hands-free calling, voice-guidance, music controls, and waterproofing. In this regard, both of these earbuds go blow for blow.

Both allow you to pick up an answer calls by tapping on the side of the earbuds, and control playback the same way. Both are reasonably waterproof, with enough resistance to handle getting a bit sweaty during an extended workout, but won't take kindly to being submerged if they accidentally plunge into your drink.

Apple and Jabra have adopted slightly different approaches to integrating voice assistance into their earbuds. The AirPods are only compatible with Siri but are always listening, letting you seamlessly control calls and playback. And while the Jabra Elite 75t is compatible with a variety of voice assistants, including Alexa, Google Assitant, or Apple's own Siri, they require you to double-tap the earbud to be enabled.

Overall while it may be a little less intuitive than Apple's AirPods, the Elite 75t is the more versatile option, especially considering that it's compatible with products outside of the Apple ecosystem.

Price

Some of the features offered by these competing earbuds may not do much to set them apart, but one factor that can't be argued here is the price. Apple's earbuds cost a whopping $250 while the 75t will run you a comparably meager $180 making them the clear winner.

The 9 Best Wireless Earbuds Under $50 in 2021Final Verdict

Without too many glaring differences, both of these wireless earbuds are virtually neck and neck in the areas of battery life and sound. However, with better device compatibility at a much lower price point, the Jabra Elite 75t wireless earbuds ultimately take the lead in this contest. The one factor that potentially tips the balance in Apple's favor is if you happen to be deeply ingrained in their ecosystem already, which makes the always-on Siri feature slightly more intuitive.
