What to KnowSelect the three dots in the upper-right corner of Chrome, then go to Settings > Privacy and Security > Site Settings.Alternatively, select the lock icon next to the URL at the top of Chrome, then select Site Settings. If you already blocked or allowed access to the site, go back to the camera and mic settings, then select Reset Permissions.
This article explains how to allow or block camera and mic access in Chrome. Instructions apply to all desktop devices with the most recent version of Chrome.
Chrome Camera and Mic Settings
You can use Google Chrome to control which websites have access to your webcam and microphone. For example, you can allow YouTube to use your computer's mic while blocking Skype from doing the same. The same goes for your computer's camera. When you allow or block a website from accessing the webcam or microphone, Chrome stores that website in a setting that you can change whenever you want.
If you want to block a website from accessing your mic or camera, or if you want to allow a website to access them, you can do so under Chrome's settings menu.
Open Chrome and select the Chrome menu, represented by three vertical dots in the upper-right corner.
You can use a keyboard shortcut to access the Settings menu. On Windows, press Alt+F or Alt+E, or F10 followed by the Spacebar. On a Mac, press Command+, (comma).
Scroll down and select Advanced.
Under the Privacy and security section, select Site settings.
Select either Camera or Microphone to access either setting.
More Options for Site Settings
If you have multiple microphones or cameras, you can choose which one to use as the default device for chrome.
To block all access all the time, toggle the Ask before accessing option to off.
You can manually change camera and microphone access for individual websites. There are two ways:If you've already blocked or allowed access to the site, follow the steps above and then select the trash button next to the site. This will force the site to ask you for access the next time it needs to.If you haven't given explicit allow or block access, select the lock icon next to the URL at the top of Chrome, and select Site settings. Choose Microphone or Camera, and then block or allow it.
If you remove a website from the block list, it doesn't move it to the allow list and vice versa. Instead, deleting a website from Chrome's list of blocked sites lets you choose to Allow or Block permission the next time the site requests access to either your camera or mic. In contrast, if the site is on the list of blocked sites for the camera and you try to use your camera, you won't be asked to use it. It will be blocked automatically.
The same idea is true for the list of allowed devices. Deleting a site there does not move it into the list of blocked sites. Having it in the Allow section will grant permission without asking each time.
