As one of the perks of being an Xfinity Internet customer, Comcast provides customers access to the internet outside of their home network by connecting to the cable company's many public Wi-Fi hotspots. We show you how to use your Xfinity subscription to connect any mobile device or PC with wireless capabilities to an Xfinity Wi-Fi hotspot.

How to Connect to Xfinity Wi-Fi Hotspots

Here's how to connect to an Xfinity Wi-Fi hotspot.

Access your device's Settings and turn on the Wi-Fi function if it is not already turned on.

When your device's Wi-Ii is turned on, a list of available wireless networks will appear on the screen. From this list, select the network labeled xfinitywifi. If prompted to do so, select Connect.

Depending on your device, the browser may automatically display the Xfinity Wi-Fi sign-in portal. If it does not, you can trigger it by opening your browser and trying to load a website.

Enter your Xfinity username (most likely your Comcast email address) and password in the text box fields, then choose Sign In.

Once you've logged in, the hotspot will be ready to use. Test your connection by opening the browser to load a webpage.

Comcast recommends using its Xfinity Wi-Fi Hotspot app (iOS/Android) when connecting to an Xfinity hotspot. It includes more security features and can help locate hotspots in your area.

What Is an Xfinity Wi-Fi Hotspot?

Xfinity Wi-Fi hotspots are free-to-use public wireless networks that Xfinity Internet customers can access when they are away from their home wireless networks. The main benefit is that Xfinity Internet customers should be able to access the internet anywhere that has an Xfinity Wi-Fi hotspot nearby, which can help reduce the customer's overall smartphone data usage.

Both mobile devices and computers can use these hotspots, provided they have wireless capabilities. If your home wireless network is acting up, you can also use an Xfinity hotspot to connect to the internet until your network is up and running again, provided that your home is located near an Xfinity Wi-Fi hotspot.

Can Non-Customers Use Xfinity Wi-Fi?

Comcast allows non-Xfinity Internet customers to use its hotspots. If you are attempting to do so, when you get to the Wi-Fi login portal, instead of logging in like a customer would, select the blue Get Started button under the section titled Not an Xfinity customer? No Problem. From there, follow the on-screen prompts to start a free trial of Comcast's Wi-Fi On Demand service or to purchase a Wi-Fi day pass to use the hotspot.
